CampusNet® Portal+ specific uses
Campus Management
CampusNet® Portal+ makes it possible to integrate the extensive functionality of the
Campus Management system CampusNet® with a centralised university portal.
Other university services can also be combined. Hence the functional areas of the
Classic CampusNet® web portal in a SharePoint-based university portal will be made
available centrally. They can also be fully integrated with other areas such as Elearning
or the library system.
E-Science
An integrated university portal, based on SharePoint technology, lays the foundations
for a more efficient internal or external collaboration e.g. with cross-sector research
areas. Virtual project rooms, for example, simplify scientific teamwork that can work
on publications or run through the Peer-review process in parallel. Further,
CampusNet® Portal+ Web2.0 functionalities (e.g. blogs or wikis) support exchange
between study and research topics.
Admission and digital notifications
On completion of the admission process, notifications can be created in
CampusNet®, relating to applicants being admitted or rejected. Approval notifications
can be created individually or as mail merge letter for any number of candidates.
Linking CampusNet® Apply with LiveCycle Enterprise Suite by Adobe, documents
can be created as PDFs and legally secured by digital signatures. They can then be
sent via letter or email. Alternatively they can be made available to download on the
web portal. Created documents are stored in the applicants file and can be accessed anytime.
Acceptance and enrolment can be managed manually or automatically. The data
from the accepted students will be automatically recorded in a master database.
E-Learning
By integrating CampusNet® in a SharePoint environment, it becomes possible to link
a number of additional collaboration and communication options with the functions of
the Campus Management system. A course in CampusNet® can automatically be
allocated to a room on the university portal. Users, rights and general information
(such as participant lists or lectures) can be synced between the systems. For the
lecturers this reduces time-consuming maintenance and update of various systems
and the students can find all relevant information and materials in one place.
Vocation management
The Portal+ team at Datenlotsen is currenlty working in colaboration with a large
university to prototype the digital vocation process. This portal allows all senior
university staff (such as rector, principals, board of trustees and admin staff) the
common electronic processing of vocation files.
The system offers comprehensive support for typical processes such as the
management of job postings and appointed positions, recommendation lists, setting
up vocation committees, keeping records of negotiations and digital archiving all
correspondence.
Appointments, deadlines and committee methods are also recorded in Portal+.
According to a selective limited access system, only eligible users can view and gain
access data of their relevance.
